Description
The name Hermes Trismegistus still retains a certain prestige today, owing primarily to the fact that medieval Christianity assigned him, in its hagiography, the role of a prophet, making his figure almost as familiar as that of the Magi, to whom antiquity had attributed teachings similar to those gathered under the name of Hermes. These Magi, soon transformed into the wise men visiting the nativity scene in Bethlehem, would become the indispensable actors in the evangelical mystery of the Nativity.
