Sportswriter Mike Lassiter is working on a book about baseball players over the decades who had enormous talent, but for one reason or another had very brief careers. No story is more mysterious than that of Jack Williams from the 1940s. Those still alive who saw him play maintain that he was the greatest ballplayer there ever was.
