Description
Acatears: Acatears is a dynamic South African music duo made up of lead vocalists Sipho and Rebaballetswe, both hailing from Sharpeville in the Vaal Triangle. Their journey began in 2011, rooted in the raw, emotive sounds of acapella. As time passed, they evolved their artistry by incorporating guitars and blending rich vocal harmonies with diverse instrumental textures. The name Acatears is a powerful reflection of their story—“Aca” derived from “acapella”, and “tears” representing both the tears of joy brought by making music and the emotional journey of how far they’ve come since their humble beginnings. Their music is a genre-fusing urban sound that blends elements of Reggae, AfroPop, Afrobeat, Neo-Soul, R&B, and Hip-hop, all tied together with a Pop influence. What sets Acatears apart is their use of Sesotho and other South African languages, giving their sound a deeply local yet globally resonant character. Acatears has graced some of South Africa’s notable stages and festivals, including Jazz by the River, Oppikoppi, and the Human Rights Day event in Sharpeville, captivating audiences with their heartfelt performances and unique sonic identity.
